The Thanksgiving Invitational turkey eating competition was won by a 105-pound woman by the name of Sonya Thomas. The contest was held at Artie's Delicatessen on Broadway in New York City on Thursday, November 24, 2005. Sonya, who also goes by the moniker ?The Black Widow?, gulped down almost an entire 10-pound roast turkey within the 12 minute time limit, to beat out Joey Chestnut, and Chip Simpson. Ms. Thomas, who hails from Alexandria, Virginia, trained for the event by chewing a lot of gum in the weeks leading up to the event, because she knew that turkey would require much more chewing than the grilled cheese sandwiches she?s been eating in competitions lately.

The Black Widow also planned to have turkey again Thanksgiving dinner (two days after the event), but to eat it much more slowly so that she could savor every bite. Her victory was no surprise, since she?s ranked No. 2 in the world as a competitive eater, to Japan's Takeru Kobayashi who holds the top spot according to the International Federation of Competitive Eating, which sponsored the turkey-eating event. Thomas won $2,500 in prize money, and has also dominated her competitive eating opponents in eggs, baked beans, cheesecake, meatballs, crab-cakes, and fruit-cake eating contests. Ms. Thomas has also been seen at GoldenPalace.com Grilled Cheese Eating Contests over the past summer.

This is definitely not the end of the competitive eating sponsorships for the Golden Palace Online Casino.
