An army of air guitar gunslingers was on hand to strut their stuff in the northern Finnish city of Oulu this past weekend for the Air Guitar World Championships, sponsored by GoldenPalace.com.

This was the 11th annual championship and drew a wildly enthusiastic crowd of fans and general onlookers. Participants from all over the world battled it out at the biggest rock club in Finland for the honor of being the top air guitarist in the world.

Several countries including the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, France and Germany were represented but it was the Japanese that won out when Ochi "Dainoji" Yosuke blew the crowd away with his rendition of Jet?s "Are you gonna be my girl?".

When asked in a post-contest interview what it takes to be the world champion of this type of event, Yosuke coolly replied "Japanese Samurai soul". Well whatever it takes, Arigato Mr. Yosuke, that song will never be quite the same again.
